Minister for Social Welfare Asiea Naqash on Wednesday informed the Legislative Council that there are 29599 Anganwari centres operational in the state.
Responding to a question raised by MLC Ashok Khajuria, the Minister said that the Anganwari Centres are run by 1366 Supervisors, 29599 Anganwari Workers, and 29599 Anganwari helpers. She further informed that there is no ad-hoc or contractual post sanctioned for ICDS centre.
She informed that the demand for the increase of remuneration of Anganwari Workers and Helpers is under examination of the department. She said the government has already put in place a mechanism whereby 50 per cent posts of supervisors have been kept for regularization of AWWs as per the existing recruitment rules.
Giving details, she said 25 percent selection is done through departmental selection/promotion Committee from amongst Anganwari workers who have rendered their services for at least five years and 25 percent is done by selection through Departmental Selection/Promotion Committee from amongst Matriculate Anganwari workers with at least 10 years service.
