Police on Wednesday booked three WhatsApp group admins for allegedly airing rumours and fabricated information to the people.
Police said that FIRs under section 66/IT Act bearing numbers 163/2014 in P S Budgam, 217/2014 in P S Baramulla and 198 /2014 in P S Pulwama have been registered and three WhatsApp group admins namely Javed Ahmad, Syed Tahir Bukhari and Raja Hilal from Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama respectively were booked for “airing rumours and fabricated information” that could create disturbances and vitiate peace.
Police said that investigation into various updates and posts that have surfaced on the WhatsApp and other social Networking sites is going on. Police said that more arrests are expected in this regard.
