Official website of Kashmir’s Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) is outdated with the authorities having failed to update the website for last three years.

The website providing details, designations and contacts of officials are three years old with the website remaining down for days together.

The website shows Er. Parvaiz Faizli as the nodal officer, while Faizli has retired three years back.

According to departmental sources, Ravi Gupta had held the charge of the Nodal Officer after Fazili who retired some time back. Currently Sajad Ahmad Guroo is the acting Nodal Officer, they added. However, the official website still shows Faizli as Nodal Officer.

“I have requested them to remove my name and update it since I got retired but it has not happened for last three years”, Faizli told a local news agency KNS.

“Various other designations and contacts on website are irrelevant now. Authorities should update it for more transparency and for the convenience of general public. It was me who was updating it then”, he added.

The general public complains that website often remains down resulting in denial to right of people to have access to the records.

When contacted PMGSY Chief Engineer Hameed Ahmad Shiekh, he said the issue was not in his knowledge. “Internet services are down in Kashmir since the execution of Afzal Guru”, said PMGSY Chief Hameed Ahmad Shiekh.

When informed that it has been restored a few days ago, “I’m in Jammu. Once I arrive there (Kashmir), I’ll look into the matter”, he replied.

Pertinently, PMGSY is a nationwide scheme entrusted with providing good all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages. It works under the Ministry of Rural Development and was flagged off on 25 December 2000.

“In order to implement this, an Online Management & Monitoring System (OMMS) system was developed to identify targets and monitor progress. It is developed by e-governance department of C-DAC Pune and is one of the biggest databases in India. The system manages and monitors all the phases of road development right from its proposal mode to road completion”, official sources told KNS.

“The OMMS also has separate module to track the expenses made on each road. Based on the data entered by state and district officers, OMMS generates detailed reports which are viewable in citizens section. OMMS incorporates advanced features like E-payment, Password protected PDF files, Interactive Reports and other documents”, they added.
