Separately, Jammu and Kashmir received support under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) for 54 upgraded looms and accessories, 32 individual worksheds and 145 lighting units during 2021-22 to 2025-26.

The Union Ministry of Textiles said 237 Handloom Producer Companies (HPCs) had been formed under the NHDP between 2020-21 and 2025-26. It said the companies were being promoted as professionally managed, member-owned enterprises to organise and strengthen handloom weavers.

The Weaver MUDRA Scheme is a component of the NHDP aimed at providing timely and affordable credit to handloom weavers and organisations for term loans and working capital. Individual weavers and weaver entrepreneurs are eligible for margin money assistance of 20 per cent of the loan amount, subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000.

For handloom organisations, margin money assistance is capped at Rs 20 lakh, while eligible organisations can avail concessional loans at a six per cent interest rate for three years, subject to the prescribed interest subvention.

The ministry said a centralised Handloom Weaver MUDRA Portal, developed in association with Punjab National Bank, has been put in place to facilitate timely disbursal of margin money, interest subsidy and credit guarantee fee.
