SRINAGAR: Around 343 drug peddlers have been arrested and property worth crores attached during the current year in Jammu Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
Among the 343 drug smugglers, 80 are most wanted, 213 have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychographic Substances (NDPS) Act while 54 habitual drug peddlers were booked under PIT- NDPS/PSA. The contraband substances worth Crores were also recovered, a police statement said on Friday.
Baramulla Police has also attached properties worth Rs 2.1 Crore of drug smugglers which includes three houses, three vehicles & cash to the tune of Rs1.2 Crores in Pattan, Kreeri, Nambla & Kamalkote areas, it said.
Moreover the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (SAFEM) Forfeiture of Property (FOP) & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by Drug Smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at Pattan & Kreeri in which house and vehicle was attached
Baramulla Police affirmed its commitment to act tough against the drug smugglers and with regard to attachment of movable/ immovable property which has been raised/ used for illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers in the district.
