Minister for R&B and Parliamentary Affairs Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the house that 38 roads having a length of 122 Km have been macadamized under various programs in district Shopian during the past three years.
Replying to a question by Showkat Hussain Ganaie in the upper house today, the Minister informed that 17.10 Km of road length of Shopian-Kulgam road, Keegam-Daramdora-Cheygund road, Vishru-Moshwar-Gatipora road and Imamsahib-Trenz-Turkawangam road were macadamized under State, District and NABARD sectors during 2013-14. He said appropriate steps would be taken for macadmization of left-over roads in the district.
In reply to the supplementary question by Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, the Minister said that Government is committed to provide better road connectivity to all the areas of the state and there would be no pick and chose in terms of macadmization of roads. He said several new road projects have been taken up in Chenab valley, while many existing roads have been up-graded.
