SRINAGAR: A 38-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a wild bear in Ahoo Paisan village of Shangus tehsil in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.
Officials said that the injured has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani (38), son of Mohammad Afzal Wani, a resident of Ahoo Paisan.
They said the bear attacked Bilal while he was in the area, leaving him injured.
The injured was immediately evacuated and shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Shangus for treatment. His condition was stated to be stable, officials added.
Meanwhile, the incident has caused concern among residents, who urged the Wildlife Department to take immediate measures to prevent further human-wildlife conflict in the area. (JKNS)
