Meanwhile Governor N.N. Vohra has greeted people and particularly the teaching fraternity on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.

In his message, the Governor observed that Teachers’ Day is a very special occasion for recognizing and paying tribute to the vital role played by teachers and honoring eminent teachers for their contributions in varied fields of learning and research.

For good reason Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an eminent Indian teacher, philosopher and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India (1952–1962) and the second President of India (1962 to 1967).

Recalling Dr Radhakrishnan’s statement that “teachers should be the best minds in the country” Governor observed that they are a very important element of the society and deserve high respect for their instructing and grooming the upcoming generations.

Governor called upon the entire fraternity of teachers to put in their best efforts for imparting quality education to the youth and, besides, also encourage their balanced development.

A spokesman of the education department said that in connection with the Teachers’ Day to be celebrated on 5 September 2017, the School Education Department is organizing a grand function at SKICC here tomorrow. The Department will honor some of the best teachers in J&K on this occasion.

“We will be honoring some of our best teachers tomorrow at the Teachers’ Day function at SKICC,” Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo said.
