In south Kashmir’s Ashmuqam area, police booked 40 persons for illegal cultivation of narcotic crops and destroyed the cultivation over 200 Kanals of land in different areas .
A police statement said that Police Station Ashmuqam alongwith Tehsildar Pahalgam and Excise Department started a narcotic crops destruction campaign since 3rd October in different areas of Ashmuqam. The joint team destroyed the cultivation in Hapatnar, Grend, Amad, Nagbal and Gogaldara.
So far during the last five days of the campaign, narcotic crop cultivation spread over the 200 Kanals of land has been destroyed on spot besides the 40 cultivators have been booked under relevant sections of law.
Police statement further said that FIR No.’s 102/2012, 104/2012 under section 8/20 NDPS Act have been registered in police station Ashmuqam against the arrested.
