SRINAGAR: A 45-year-old man died during treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri after he was allegedly assaulted in a land dispute in the Behrote area of Thanamandi in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said Munir Hussain, son of Hassan Mohammad and a resident of Behrote, was allegedly attacked with wooden sticks by three individuals on June 16 at around 3 pm.
The injured was initially taken to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thanamandi and later referred to GMC Rajouri, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Shamim Akhter, wife of the deceased, submitted a written complaint alleging that Mohammad Razaq, Najma Kausar and Mehtab Ahmed, all residents of Behrote, assaulted her husband following a dispute over land.
On the basis of the complaint, Police Station Thanamandi registered FIR No. 77/2026 under Sections 109, 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway, police said. (GNS)
