President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) and MLA Langate, Er Rashid has expressed surprise over declaring Syed Salahudin and seven others as proclaimed offenders by a New Delhi court on the basis of charge sheet filled by NIA.

Addressing one day’s convention of Sarpanchs at Handwara Monday, he said that rather agreeing and understanding to the sensitivities of Kashmir dispute New Delhi is trying everything to give Kashmiris a sense of defeat. “If NIA feels Syed Salahudin and his colleagues have been receiving money to provide oxygen to the resistance movement, then NIA should have lodged similar cases against Gh Hassan Mir and others, who according to Gen. VK Singh and other intelligence reports have been taking money from various agencies for destabilizing peace in the state. One has every reason to differ with the ways and means Salahudin has been using to achieve resolution of Kashmir dispute but nobody has a reason to label him as a terrorist as he and his colleagues are the sons of the soil and are just trying to remember India about the promises it has never fulfilled with the Kashmiri people. It would have been proper if GoI would have invited UJC for unconditional talks, as the role of UJC cannot be under estimated by trying to create confusion in the world community by portraying Salahudin as a terrorist or as a wanted person,” Rashid said.

Rashid added “If New Delhi wants a prosperous and peaceful India, the road definitely leads through the resolution of Kashmir dispute. Once GOI proves its sincerity Salahudin and his colleagues would have no reason but to lay down their arms and come to the table for resolution of the dispute.”
