SRINAGAR: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern California on Tuesday night, with tremors felt across parts of the region, including neighbouring Nevada County, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake occurred shortly after 9.49 pm near Susanville, California, at a depth of 4.7 kilometres, the USGS said. Residents in several areas reported feeling the shaking, though its impact appeared to be limited.
