SRINAGAR: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern California on Tuesday night, with tremors felt across parts of the region, including neighbouring Nevada County, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake occurred shortly after 9.49 pm near Susanville, California, at a depth of 4.7 kilometres, the USGS said. Residents in several areas reported feeling the shaking, though its impact appeared to be limited.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage to property, authorities said. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation, and further details are awaited.
