Samba Accident

In a tragic accident at Main Market Samba, five people lost their lives when a speedy Trolley on its way to Jammu from Kathua went out of control and hit a vehicle and a few pedestrians.

The incident took place at around 9 PM when it was all dark in the area.

As soon as the accident took place, the people raised alarm and brought the matter into the notice of District administration “which instead of rushing to the spot sent a lighter machinery to evict the persons trapped in between the trolley and the vehicle”.

“Even after two hours, neither Deputy Commissioner Samba nor any senior officers from administration or police reached the spot as a result of which five precious lives were lost while two others are still battling for the life at hospital,” locals said.

As per the details the injured persons were identified as Tilak Raj (42), son of Sadhu Ram; Raman Kumar (32), son of Bodh Raj, both residents of Kheli Mandi Samba; Villa (40), son of Ratan Lal, resident of Balori; Heem Raj (30), son of Prem Nath, resident of Ram Nagar; Ashwani (40), son of Dharam Singh, resident of Ward No. 1 Samba; Raman (32), parentage unknown, resident of Ward No. 8 Samba and Simran (18), daughter of Raman Kumar.

Among these 7 persons, five peoples are said to be dead.

The eyewitnesses also said that there was no electricity in the area when the accident took place added that people use mobile torches to trace out the victims.
