Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that Government will propose upgradation of schools fulfilling the requisite norms in Budgam district during the year 2017-18. He said six schools of the district were proposed for upgradation during the year 2016-16, but the proposal was not approved by the GoI.

The Minister further informed the house that the Central Government has sanctioned 68 Girls Hostels in educationally backward blocks of the State under Phase-I, of which five fall in Budgam district. It was also informed that another proposal for Khansahab block, district Budgam will be submitted to Government of India during the next financial year for approval.

The Minister was replying to a Question by Hakim Mohammad Yasin Shah.

Pawan Gupta and Jeevan Lal raised supplementary queries related to upgradation of schools in their areas, which were replied to by the Minister.
