Srinagar: At least 7 persons including 5 policemen and 2 contractual armored guards were killed when gunmen opened fire upon a vehicle of a bank in southern part of Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday afternoon, reports said.

The reports revealed that the gunmen opened fire on a cash van of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Pombai village of the district.

A News gathering agency quoting police officials said that 4 policemen and 2 contractual armored guards were killed in the attack. However, Kashmir Life learned from informed sources that 5 policemen were killed in the attack. However, the identity of the slain could not be ascertained.

Sources said that the gunmen stopped the cash van of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Pombai village of the district heading towards Kulgam after unloading cash at Nehama branch and opened indiscriminate fire. The Gunmen also fled with the service rifles of the slain policemen.
