Body of a 50-year-old man was recovered from a water reservoir in Lalpora area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
Reports said that some fishermen spotted the body and informed the local police station about it. A police team was immediately reached the spot after being informed and recovered the body.
A police officer concerned confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Wali Mohammad son of Abdul Gafar Bhat of Thundosa, Lalpora.
“We are looking from all the angles as the deceased as per preliminary reports had a dispute with her wife since the last couple of years,” he said.
He said that an under section 174 CrPc has been registered and further investigations were taken up to ascertain the actual cause of death.
Meanwhile, after conducting all the legal medico formalities including the postmortem, the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family for last rites. (GNS)
