SRINAGAR: A 50-year-old woman was seriously injured after a wild bear attacked her in the Burzapati Behak area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday evening, reports said.
The woman was identified as Rashida Begum, wife of Ghulam Dawood Gakhad, a resident of Kalaspati Rayil Gund in Ganderbal.
According to reports, Begum was in the upper meadow area of Burzapati Behak when the bear suddenly attacked her, leaving her seriously injured. She was subsequently referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar in critical condition for specialised treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident, while Begum is currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura.
Authorities have advised people living in or visiting forest and pasture areas to exercise caution and avoid venturing into isolated locations alone.
