Early Saturday scores of police, paramilitary troopers and regular army vehicles entered Palhallan and started searching houses.

Reports reaching Kashmir Life said that as many as 25-30 vehicles started making rounds of Malik Mohall, Roi Pora and started searching there.

Local sources informed KL over phone, “They asked us to vacate our homes and took one of our inmates inside for searching.”

Pertinently, as India is celebrating its 65th Republic day on Sunday, security has been beefed across valley. Reports said that police and paramilitary forces are checking vehicles and at every main junction.

In Srinagar, private as well as public transporters are being put through serious frisking and after asked to get out of the vehicles. “This is harassing and humiliating,” said a Sumo driver.

Police and forces personnel were checking and frisking on every road and link road till late night on Friday.

A local from Baramullah said that people are being put to tough frisking near Degree College after asked to get down of vehicles.

A police official wishing anonymity told Kashmir Life that the security has been beefed keeping in view the Republic Day. “Police administration has activated its units only to ensure peaceful Republic Day functions and there nothing to be panic about the ongoing searches,” he said.
