Asking the passing out graduates and post-graduates from the higher institutions of learning and universities to venture in the new phase of their life with confidence, resolve and firm belief of making their mark in the fields they choose for career, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Saturday told them to be fully prepared to face challenges and bring laurels to all they belong.

“You have been fully imparted education and skills and you have to prove your caliber and mettle to shine-bright your parents, your Institutions and your State”, he told the students at the 4th Convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in his address.

The Chief Minister said that higher learning institutions and universities provide opportunity of excellence to the students, facilitate them in all respects of gaining knowledge and igniting their quest, but at the end of the day it is up to the students to exhibit their brilliance and caliber by contributing positively to the society and the nation. He said whatever students gain from educational institutions they need to use it in the right prospective and work for the holistic development and growth of the society.

Omar Abdullah asked the passing out students to give the introduction of their knowledge and skills to the outer world in such a manner that the education seekers from all over the globe would choose J&K State to pursue their educational goals. “Make your mark in all the fields you choose to work in after coming out from the university”, he said.

The Chief Minister said that SMVDU in its young age has made remarkable strides and is emerging as one of the renowned universities in the Country. “The students getting education in this university are also having mind-blowing and thought-provoking natural surroundings and environment befitting for an educational institution. You should take full advantage of the faculty, facility and environment to excel and grow both educationally and as the fine human beings”, he said and appreciated the efforts of the University for its Continuous Progress and growth in the shortest period of time.

“The Universities with innovative and vigorous spirit can provide the essential framework for developing and crystallizing knowledge societies. This can take the State to new heights and align the needs of society with that of the knowledge economy”, he said and highlighted the role of SMVDU in this regard. He said while the Universities can provide the requisite framework and tools, the success and vigorous development is in the hand of student fraternity. “It is upon the shoulders of the students to create a glorious future”, he added.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah also spoke on the occasion.
