Denying any irregularity in power supply in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesperson of power development department (PDD) has said that there has been marked improvement in the power scenario with the consumers being provided with ‘10% more power supply than the last year and the government has taken every possible measure to augment the same by ensuring that transmission and distribution losses are minimized’.

“The power supply has shown a marked improvement in the Kashmir division during the winters and all possible steps have been taken to provide uninterrupted supply during summers in the Jammu division,” the statement issued read.

 The spokesperson claimed, “Transformer damage rate has been brought down considerably to 25% from the last year’s 36% and effective measures are being taken to reduce power pilferage.”

 It also maintained that the department has made efforts to ensure early replacement of the damaged transformers to “minimise inconvenience to the consumers and in this regard strict instructions have been passed to the concerned to ensure that these replaced are made within the shortest possible time.”
