One person died while seven others were injured in two different road accidents across the valley, a police statement said.

A TATA 407 bearing registration number JK05/5930 turned turtle at Model Town Sopore. “In this accident Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Behrampora, Sopore died on spot and other four persons were injured,” the statement read.

In another accident, a Sumo bearing registration number Jk06/1067 collided with a truck bearing registration number JK13C/8380 at Toll Post Qazigund.

“Three persons Abdul Majeed Ganie, Mohammad Yousuf Ganie and Saja Bano wife of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, all residents of Bagwanpora Verinag were injured in this accident,” the statement said.

The statement further added that all the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment and Police have cases were registered.

Meanwhile, a residential house and eleven other structures were damaged in fire, last evening, the statement said.

“Fire broke out in the residential house of Abdul Gani Dragay of Sirigufwara, Anantnag. Fire also engulfed the adjacent three cow sheds,” it said. In this incident all the four structures were gutted completely.

Police said that fire broke out in Advocate Chamber in District Court premises in the jurisdiction of police post Sher Bagh, Anantnag. “Four advocate chambers got partially damaged in the fire. Fire was brought under control by Fire tenders and police. The cause of the fire is believed to be due to electric short circuit.”

And in Sopore, fire broke out in the cosmetic shop of Rayees Ahmad Dar at Shah Faisal Market. Fire also engulfed the two adjacent shops resulting in partial damage to them. Fire was brought under control by Fire tenders and police. The cause of fire is due to electric short circuit.
