Police Monday vehemently refuted those news reports which claimed that police has named the slain youth of Shahgund Farhat Ahmed Dar in its FIR and has said that these are only rumours and are spread by miscreants with an intention to malign the image of police and district administration.

According to CNS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat said that few people with nefarious designs floated this rumour that police has named slain youth Farhat Ahmed Dar in its FIR vide order 61/2014. “Police wants to clear this that nowhere his name has been mentioned in the FIR. Few miscreants with the help of vested interests are spreading this rumour to disrupt the peace in the State,” Bhat said, adding that he is surprised how and why this false news report was carried by a section of press without quoting police.

Pertinently, some news reports claimed that Jammu and Kashmir police have booked Farhat Ahmed Dar, the 18 years old youth who was recently killed in Naidkahi area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district in police firing for ‘attempt to murder’ on cops. Dar was killed after the personnel of the Indian Reserve Police IRP, 8th battalion fired upon a group of protesters who allegedly tried to set ablaze their vehicle.

Meanwhile, the investigation commission headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Nazir Ahmed Baba which is investigating the circumstances in which Farhat Ahmad Dar was killed Monday formally started the investigation of the incident by recorded the statements of few witnesses.

ADC Bandipora said that on Monday he recorded the statements of all those witnesses who appeared before the Commission.

“Few witnesses appeared before the Commission and I recorded their statements with regard to the killing of the youth,” he said, adding that the Commission will record the statements of the witnesses on March 25, 28 and 29 as well.
