A collaborative initiative by Director SKIMS, Director health services and HOD surgical oncology have been started in order to streamline management of cancer patients scientifically and  to develop skills of surgeons at district level hospitals.

According to a statement Director SKIMS said the initiative is aimed to kick start onco-surgeries at the door step of patients suffering from the dreadful disease who will get benefitted at large scale.

The collaborative project was started on pilot basis on February 4, 2014 at 3 identified District General Hospitals of JLNM Hospital Ranawari, District Hospital Baramullah and Handwara with optimal facilities.

“It is worth mentioning that this project would have not been possible without appreciable coordination of hospital administrators of these hospitals like Dr. Iqbal Sofi (MS JLNM Hospital), Dr Rouf (MS District Hospital Baramullah ) and Dr Bashir (MS District hospital Handwara),” a statement of SKIMS said.
