62 Fresh Covid19 Death Take Jammu Kashmir Toll To 3355, 3969 New Cases Detected


SRINAGAR: The lockdown, notwithstanding, it is getting heavier with every passing day. In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 62 people as fresh 3969 cases were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.

Besides, 3969 new infections were registered across Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours. This was despite the lockdown that has literally paralysed life across the erstwhile state for more than a week now.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3355 people including 1784 in Kashmir and 1571 in Jammu.

As many as 22 deaths took place in Jammu city and eight in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens each in Baramulla and Bandipore, two each in Budgam, Anantnag, and Shopian and one each in Kupwara, Ganderbal and Kulgam.

Apart from 22 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost five citizens each in Kathua and Samba, and two each in Udhampur, Poonch and Reasi and one in Rajouri district.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 3969 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 675. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 493 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 2594 cases against 1375 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 371 from Baramulla, 411 from Budgam, 171 from Pulwama, 190 from Kupwara, 311 from Anantnag, 113 from Bandipora, 118 from Ganderbal, 149 from Kulgam, and 85 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 154, Rajouri 142, Doda 64, Kathua 158, Samba 112, Kishtwar 25, Poonch 106, Ramban 68, and Reasi 53.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 50494 active cases, which includes 29522 in Kashmir 20792 in Jammu. It means Kashmir has almost double the active cases in comparison to Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, as many as 4338 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 50494. The recoveries included 1385 cases in Jammu and 2953 in Kashmir.
