SRINAGAR: FIL Industries Private Limited organised Kisan Melas in Kulgam and Anantnag, bringing together over 700 farmers to explore modern agricultural techniques and solutions. The events, held on February 10 in Kulgam and February 13 in Anantnag, focused on improving productivity, sustainability, and financial security for farmers, particularly apple growers.
Experts at the melas provided insights into crop protection, nutrition, and disease management, addressing key challenges such as pest infestations and plant diseases. Live product demonstrations introduced FIL’s advanced rootstocks and farming inputs under its FILAVAL brand. Farmers were also briefed on the company’s cold storage facilities designed to minimize post-harvest losses and extend the shelf life of produce.
A key highlight of the event was appleINSURE, India’s first parametric apple crop insurance program, which aims to protect farmers from unpredictable weather conditions.
Speaking at the event, Syed Junaid Altaf, Executive Director of FIL Industries, emphasized the crucial role of apple growers in the region’s economy. “The apple grower is the backbone of this industry. His success determines the strength of the entire apple economy. FIL Industries is committed to providing farmers with advanced knowledge, technology, and solutions to enhance their growth,” he said.
