KUPWARA: There are 78 inmates in Kupwara jail who have tested positive for Covid19, an official spokesman said. The information was revealed when Principal District and Sessions Judge, Tasleem Arif who is also the Chairperson of Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) and the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din visited District Jail Kupwara and inspected the healthcare facilities being provided to the jail inmates.

Superintendent of District Jail Kupwara informed the dignitaries that sampling of all jail inmates have been done and 78 inmates have tested Covid positive.  He further informed that all positive inmates have been kept under isolation for their recovery and all medical and dietary facilities are being provided to the inmates strictly as per the Covid protocol.

The dignitaries interacted with the inmates and enquired from them about the healthcare and other essential facilities provided to them.

Jail Worries

On the demand of the Jail Superintendent for an Oxygen concentrator and other items like masks, sanitisers and soaps,  the CMO was directed to record the requirement and provide the required items to the District Jail.

Regarding fumigation spray, Municipal Committee Kupwara was directed to fumigate the premises of the jail on priority. The dignitaries were accompanied by Incharge Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Abdul Gani Dar; Tehsildar Kupwara, Javaid Ahmad and some other magistrates.
