To support the old age populace, governments pension scheme is no relief as in Kashmir region alone 79067 cases of old age pension are lying pending.
These pending cases are under Indira Ghandi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and Integrated Social Assistance Scheme (ISSS).
This was stated in a written reply by the government in the legislative assembly on Tuesday.
To streamline process of such cases, the government documents state that the department has taken up the matter ministry of rural development for the release of additional funds required for the purpose of clearance of pending pension cases under NSAP.
As regards to the pending cases under ISSS the department has started bio-metric verification of pensioners in order to know the exact number of approved pensioners.
The matter will be taken up with the finance department for the release of additional funds, reply states, “As and when the exercise is completed.”
The new pension cases, meanwhile, are being sanctioned on the first come first service basis.
