SRINAGAR: Eighty travellers were among 156 cases of covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the overall tally in the J&K to 4730—1097 in Jammu and 3633 in Valley.

Sources said with the fresh cases, Baramulla and Srinagar have crossed 500-mark. Earlier Kulgam district crossed the mark and have 570 cases presently.

The cases include Shopian (38) followed by Kathua (26), Ramban (21), Samba (14), Poonch (12), Jammu (8), Baramulla (7), Budgam (6), Kupwara (5), Srinagar (5), Pulwama (4), Doda (3), Kulgam (2), Anantnag (1), Rajouri (2), Reasi (1) and Kishtwar (1).

Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS said that out of the samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 56 returned positive for the virus.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told newsagency GNS that among them, 22 are from Shopian, ten from Baramulla, six from Srinagar, five each from Kulgam and Kupwara, two each from Bandipora and Anantnag besides one from Pulwama.

The cases from Srinagar include a female 22 year old from Nowshera, one male 52-year-old from Shivpora Batwara and a 28-year-old from Soura.

The cases from Baramulla include one female 65 years old from Kreeri, one male from Taripora , a 30-year-old male from Sopore, a 48-year-old male from Watergam Rafiabad, a 49-year-old male from Gulistan Bala, one female 16-year-old from Khawajabagh, 30-year-old woman female from Khanpora Baramulla.

The Anantnag cases include one female from Nowshera Khirram and one Male Muripora Anantnag. The cases include all females from Check Wattoo Kulgam, D K Marg, Y K Pora and two from Batengoo.

One case from Pulwama include 30-year-old male while Shopain cases include three from Reshipora Shopain, all males (aged 70, 24 & 14), two from Saidpora— a 40-year-old male and another 30 year old female—one female from Ramnagri,  one male from Vehil Shopian, a 37-year-old male from Zainapora, 45 year old man from check Kachdoora, a 26-year-old man from Kachdoora, three males (aged 45, 52 & 34) from Kaprin, a 50-year-old male from Bonabazar, a 45-year-old man from Shamshipora, a 30-year-old man from DPL Shopian, a 50-year-old woman from Gadipora Shopian, a 47-year-old woman from Pinjoora, 33-year-old female from K-Ullar, a 27-year-old man from HP Batgund, a 30-year-old man from Mohanpora and a 29-year-old woman from Mohanpora Shopian.

The two cases from Bandipora include a 53-year-old female and 33 male from Bughlender.

Five cases from Kupwara include three females—one 33-year-old from Armpora, 24-year-old from Babgund Poshpora and 50-year-old from Gugloosa and two males—aged 37 and 28— from Kawari and Babgund Poshpora respectively.

Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told news agency GNS that out of the samples processed, 35 tested positive—29 from Shopian and six from Budgam. At CD hospital lab, ten cases were confirmed and include nine males one (50) from Pattan, Baramulla (38), two (aged 38 and 33) from Chatabal Srinagar, two others whose age and address has not been mentioned and one (56) from Safakadal, two (aged 34 & 4) from Rahmoo Pulwama besides 42-year-old female from Sonasamil Pulwama. However, sources said among all the cases, some tests were those of persons who had tested positive earlier.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 4730 positive cases, 2591 are Active Positive, 2086 have recovered and 53 have died; 06 in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 254059 test results available, 249329 samples have been tested as negative till June 12, 2020.

Additionally, till date 230505 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 41964 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in Hospital Quarantine, 2591 in hospital isolation and 55738 under home surveillance. Besides, 130128 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 233 positive cases with 59 Active Positive, 173 recovered (including 08 cases recovered today), 01 death; Srinagar has 502 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 334 Active Positive, 156 recovered (including 05 cases recovered today), 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 483 positive cases (including 01 case reported today), with 140 Active Positive, 338 recovered (including 23 cases recovered today),  05 deaths; Baramulla has 504 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 330 Active Positive, 164 recovered (including 02 case recovered today), 10 deaths; Shopian has 478 positive cases (including 38 cases reported today) with 249 Active Positive, 225 recovered (including 54 cases recovered today) and 04 deaths; Kupwara has 381 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 105 Active Positive, 273 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today) and 03 deaths; Budgam has 220 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today), with 111 Active Positive and 107 recovered cases (including 27 cases recovered today) and 02 deaths; Ganderbal has 59 positive cases with 23 active positive cases and 36 recoveries (including 04 cases recovered today); Kulgam has 570 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today), with 334 Active Positive and  228 recoveries (including 60 cases recovered today) and 08 deaths and Pulwama reported 203 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 168 active positive cases and 33 recovered (including 01 case recovered today) and 02 deaths.

Similarly, Jammu has 261 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 141 active positive cases and 117 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered today) and 03 deaths; Udhampur has 153 positive cases with 115 active positive cases, 37 recovered (including 02 cases recovered today) and 01 death; Samba has 83 positive cases (including 14 cases reported today) with 55 Active Positive and 28 recoveries; Rajouri has 60 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 47 active positive cases and 12 recovered and 01 death; Kathua has 149 positive cases (including 26 cases reported today) with 90 Active positive and 59 recovered (including 10 cases recovered today); Kishtwar has 22 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 18 active positive cases and 04 recovered; Ramban has 193 positive cases (including 21 cases reported today) with 156 active positive and 37 recoveries (including 14 cases reported today); Reasi has 24 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 13 active positive and 11 recovered (including 01 case recovered today), Poonch has 103 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 75 active positive and 28 recoveries while Doda has 49 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 28 active positive cases and 20 recoveries (including 18 cases recovered today) and 01 death.

According to the bulletin, of the total 4730 positive cases in J&K 1709 have been reported as travelers while 3021 as others.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.

The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.

Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”

In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free number 102.

Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.

People are also advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.
