Police on Thursday claimed that it arrested a person today following an action targeting those involved in drug peddling in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“One person arrested for the drug offences has been taken to Police station Karnah where he remains in custody,” said police spokesman in a statement.
The spokesman said that this is a part of proactive action initiated by Kupwara police against the drug peddlers of north Kashmir.
“Officers have seized 840 grams of Brown Sugar from the residential house of one known drug peddler Riyaz Hussain Shah son of Talib Hussain Shah Haridal Karnah,” said the spokesman.
“Case FIR No 02/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in PS Karnah,” he said.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” said police spokesman in a statement.
