AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the party had received confirmation of the demise and extended condolences to the bereaved family. He described the deceased as a veteran teacher and a respected figure known for his contribution to education, moral values and social service.

He said Haji Sheikh had remained a source of strength for Engineer Rashid throughout his public and political life and was widely respected for his simplicity, wisdom and humility.

Un Nabi urged the Government of India and concerned authorities to facilitate the release of Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds so that he may attend the funeral prayers and last rites of his father. He said denying such an opportunity to a son in the wake of a parent’s death was deeply painful.

He added that humanitarian considerations should take precedence in moments of personal loss, regardless of political differences, and said the bereavement had caused widespread grief among the family, associates and well-wishers across Jammu and Kashmir.

The AIP spokesperson further said the passing had created a significant void within the family and among students and admirers of the deceased. He said the party leadership stood in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of sorrow.
