Jamia Zia Ul Uloom Celebrates 50 Years of Education in Pir Panchal, CM Attends Function

   

POONCH: Jamia Zia Ul Uloom, one of the most prominent educational institutions in the Poonch–Rajouri region (Pir Panchal Valley), marked a major milestone as it celebrated its 50th Annual Day, Meeras. The Golden Jubilee brought together dignitaries, former students, faculty, and community members to honour the seminary’s five-decade journey in education, character building, and social upliftment.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended the event as Chief Guest, accompanied by senior ministers Sakina Itoo, Javaid Rana, Javaid Dar, Satish Sharma, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Haveli Ajaz Ahmad Jan, and MLA Surankote Choudhary Akram.

In his address, the Chief Minister praised Jamia Zia Ul Uloom for its role in shaping the educational landscape of the Pir Panjal region. He said the institution has helped thousands of families, becoming a symbol of unity, discipline, and peaceful coexistence. Omar Abdullah urged people to visit the campus to understand how the institution has upheld communal harmony and mutual respect through its teachings and outreach.

He paid tribute to Maulana Ghulam Qadir and Maulana Sayeed A Habib, calling their leadership foundational in building a generation of educated and socially responsible youth. “Maulana Ghulam Qadir is a voice of brotherhood and educational influence,” he said, noting that sustaining such work over fifty years reflects rare dedication.

Leaders from Jamia Zia Ul Uloom spoke about the institution’s evolution and expressed gratitude for the community’s support. They emphasised the guiding values of moral education, discipline, and service that have shaped its identity. The Golden Jubilee theme, Meeras, represented a reaffirmation of the institution’s mission to strengthen society through knowledge and harmony.

As part of the celebrations, the seminary honoured four individuals for their contributions in various fields. Distinguished alumni were also felicitated for their achievements, highlighting the institution’s long-standing tradition of nurturing capable and responsible citizens.

The event featured cultural performances and presentations by students, showcasing their talent and dedication. Guests praised the students and expressed appreciation for the institution’s continued commitment to holistic education.

As Jamia Zia Ul Uloom completes fifty years, the Golden Jubilee celebrations stood as a reminder of the institution’s enduring impact on the Poonch–Rajouri region and its resolve to carry forward its legacy of learning, unity, and social responsibility.
