The self-enumeration drive was formally launched at the Mini Secretariat in Kulgam with the flagging off of an awareness van aimed at spreading information about the process across urban and rural areas of the district. The campaign focused on encouraging public participation in the census exercise through digital and assisted modes.

During the launch programme, the Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam addressed supervisors, enumerators, officers and government employees on the importance of self-enumeration and citizen participation for collection of census data. Government employees were also asked to complete self-enumeration of their households and encourage participation within their localities.

Officials conducted a demonstration session during the programme, including a step-by-step presentation on the self-enumeration process through the online portal. The session covered registration, household mapping, questionnaire submission and final submission procedures. Authorities also highlighted the availability of assistance at Panchayat Bhawans, Patwar Halqas, Block Offices and Tehsil Offices.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to residents to participate in the exercise, stating that self-enumeration enables citizens to directly submit household information and supports governance and welfare planning.

According to the district administration, a multi-level outreach and mobilisation strategy was adopted to achieve participation of over 10,000 households on the first day. Facilitation mechanisms were established at Panchayat, Block and Tehsil levels to assist citizens in completing the process.

The administration said awareness campaigns were carried out through social media, public announcements, sensitisation meetings and field-level mobilisation by supervisors and enumerators. Government employees, educational institutions, frontline workers, Panchayati Raj Institutions and local volunteers were also involved in awareness activities.

Officials said monitoring and coordination mechanisms had been established to ensure implementation of the self-enumeration drive across the district.

The district administration appealed to residents to complete their self-enumeration through the official online portal at the earliest.
