SRINAGAR: In a heart-wrenching incident, an unidentified person abandoned a newborn baby in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to local sources, a few individuals discovered the abandoned baby near a local nallah called Hud in the Kralpora area of Kupwara. They promptly provided clothes for the baby and wrapped it in a warm blanket.
The baby was immediately transported to the District Hospital Handwara for medical treatment.
Dr. Nisar Ahmed Wani, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Handwara, informed the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the baby, a boy, tragically passed away within 15 minutes of arrival at the hospital.
“We have informed the police about the incident,” he stated.
Police sources have confirmed that a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, and a team has been assembled to apprehend the culprits. [KNT]
