SRINAGAR: Administrative Council has approved the transfer of Evacuees’ land, conferring proprietary rights to Displaced Persons (DPs) from the 1947, 1965, and 1971 conflicts, as well as West Pakistan Displaced Persons.
This decision will grant absolute ownership over the Evacuees’ land, similar to the rights already conferred on state land.
The Custodian will process the transfers within 30 days, with the entire process expected to be completed within six months. The land transfer will adhere to the land ceiling limits set by the 1954 Cabinet Order and the J&K Agrarian Reforms Act, 1976. This decision addresses decades-long demands for ownership rights from displaced families.
