SRINAGAR: In a meeting convened on Thursday under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Administrative Council (AC) sanctioned the transfer of 22 kanal and 2 marla of land located in Estate Devipora, Tulmulla, Ganderbal, to the Animal Husbandry Department. This transfer is intended for the establishment of a dairy plant. The project aims to generate employment opportunities, minimize agro-farm wastage, and improve the nutritional value of the produce.

The Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) would be the implementing agency for the implementation of the Central Sector Scheme and National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) which would contribute 90 percent of the funding under the central sector component and the remaining 10 percent would be JKMPCL’s share for the execution of the project.

With this decision, approximately 1.50 lakh milk producers would benefit in the area and employment opportunities for approximately 400 to 500 persons would be created.

The Administrative Council also accorded administrative approval for the installation of a vertical lift from Peerkho Station of the Jammu Ropeway Project to the Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex at an estimated cost of Rs 25.07 crore.

The vertical lift comprises two lifts, each with a capacity of 13 passengers, ensuring efficient transportation between Peerkho Station and Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex.

The project includes a foot over-bridge for connectivity and safety measures for the passengers.

The installation of this lift would have no adverse structural impact on the Mubarak Mandi Complex.

The project has been conceptualised with technical vetting from IIT Jammu.

It is an initiative aimed at seamlessly integrating key tourist attractions, fostering tourism and cultural exploration of the region.

The area is famous for its ancient temples and has scenic advantages due to the upcoming Tawi Riverfront Project.

The Administrative Council also accorded approval for the change of the Administrative Department of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society (MMJHS), Jammu, from the Tourism Department to the Culture Department.

Since maintenance of the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex aligns with the role and responsibility of the Culture Department, the proposal was mooted by the Tourism Department for a change of the Administrative Department of the society from Tourism to Culture Department.

By placing MMJHS under the Culture Department, its projects would become part of the Culture Department’s regular budget, making heritage preservation more organised and effective and would also address funding concerns and impart efficiency in control of the affairs of the complex.

Advisor to the LG, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar; Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo; and Principal Secretary to LG Mandeep Kumar Bhandari attended the meeting.
