SRINAGAR: ACB Jammu arrested a cop accepting bribe of Rs 10,000, a spokesman of the anti-graft body said.

It had received a complaint on November 10, that a person’s vehicle was hit by an army vehicle at Tanda Akhnoor on November 7, in which he was injured. The person had registered a case FIR at Police Station, Akhnoor.

The Investigating Officer identified as head constable Mohammad Rafiq had demanded an amount of Rs 10000/ on the pretext that he will prepare the charge sheet against the Army driver. The statement said the policeman had said he will produce the challan against him – the complainant, in case he did not pay him the money.

On the basis of this complaint, case FIR No 20/2020 U/S 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 r/w PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Jammu. A team was constituted to lay a trap. The ACB team laid the trap in which the accused constable was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10000 from the complainant. The AB searched the constable’s residence as well.
