The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against former Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Budgam, RK Bhat for conferring financial benefits upon illegal occupants of state land.
The ACB produced a chargesheet against Bhat and beneficiary Mian Mohammad Mujtaba in the court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar. The case dates back to 2015 and was filed at Vigilance Organisation police station, Kashmir.
“An inquiry revealed that officials of the Revenue Department of Budgam, by abuse and misuse of their official position as public servants, conferred undue pecuniary benefits upon illegal occupants of state land by arbitrarily fixing the price of land ie lower than the prevailing market rate of the area, incorrect application of rates and unauthorised change of classification of land from residential to agricultural,” the ACB said in a statement.
