Srinagar: To accommodate thousands of people who had gathered in Tral township of Pulwama district to offer funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant Aqib Ahmad Bhat alias Aqib Movi, multiple Janaza’s were offered at his native village in Hyuna amid the shutdown.
Aqib was one of the two militants killed during the 15-hour-long firefight with forces at Haffu, Nazneenpora village on Sunday.
A large number of people from Tral, Awantipora and other areas of Pulwama district had reached Hyuna to participate in the Namaz-e-Jinaza of Aaqib and have a last glimpse of him, reports said.
Chanting pro-freedom slogans people were seen crying and mourning.
Meanwhile, octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani addressed the mourners telephonically and appealed people to take the “movement” to its logical end.
