A resident of Old City was critically injured after unknown persons attacked him with acid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar here, police sources Tuesday said.
Police sources told GNS that this morning at around 10:30 am; two unknown persons threw acid on Hilal Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mi, resident of Gurgari Mohalla Zaina Kadal at Nowhatta in Old City.
The victim, they said, was immediately rushed to nearby SMHS hospital where he is being treated upon.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear neither the attackers have been identified yet.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard and have started investigations, sources added.
In recent years, this is for the first time that a person has been attacked with acid in Old City’s Nowhatta – a bastion of anti-India clashes and protests.
