SRINAGAR: Hours after an army man was held at Srinagar International Airport by the security officials for carrying two grenades, Army Monday said that it will investigate the matter and take action against the accused personnel.

“A soldier has been caught carrying grenade in his pocket as reported by the Airport authorities. The matter is under investigation. As per due process of law, the Army will take action against the individual,” Army spokesman Rajesh Kalia told local news agency.

The army soldier, identified as Bhupal Mukhia of Darjeeling, was arrested by police and taken to Humhama police station for interrogation, reports said.

The anti-hijacking team of Jammu and Kashmir police arrested the army soldier at the Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport who was travelling with two grenades.

“Necessary action will be taken against him. I am heading to the airport now,” DGP SP Vaid told reporters after wreath laying ceremony of a cop at DPL Srinagar
