SRINAGAR: The administration of Ladakh has formed a panel to review the creation of five new districts in the Union Territory. The panel is required to submit a report with its recommendations within three months.
As per a report in Daily Excelsior, an order issued by the General Administration Department of the UT of Ladakh reads, “Pursuant to the in-principle approval conveyed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for the formation of five new districts namely Sham, Nubra, Changthang, Zanskar and Drass in the UT of Ladakh, and as per the directions conveyed therein, a committee is hereby constituted to assess various aspects related to the formation of new districts such as their headquarters, boundaries, structure, creation of post, any other aspect.”
The panel is led by retired IAS officer Pramod Kumar Jain, two retired IAS officers Kacho Asfandyar Khan and Tsering Angchok are members and Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kragil are ex-officio Members.
