SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today reviewed development works being executed in the district besides taking stock of public grievances.

Advisor Farooq Khan, while emphasizing enhanced road functioning during winters, asked the officers to ensure that proper connectivity is extended to essential facilities like hospitals in the wake of harsh weather. He directed officials from R&B and Mechanical departments to ensure expeditious snow clearance on main roads and interior links as well so that people don’t face any hardship on this account.

Advisor said that the Lieutenant Governor has issued specific directions to ensure minimal disruption in power supply during the winter months. “The department must ensure that necessary infrastructure in this regard is put in place”, he added. He asked the officers to plan out a multi-pronged strategy to avoid unscheduled power cuts ensuring adequate supply to consumers. He also asked for conveying scheduled cuts to the public in advance.

Addressing officials from CAPD, Advisor directed for identifying locations for setting up of temporary storage points so that regular supply of essentials is made available to the public.

Advisor also directed officials from Flood Control department to identify flood prone spots so that timely preventive measures are taken up to save public property and precious lives as well.

Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla, informed that buffer stock of transformers have already been kept ready at feasible locations in interior areas to reduce response time. Further, helpline numbers and contact details of field functionaries have been publicized among the masses, he added.

He also informed the Advisor that the district administration is constantly reviewing implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and efforts are being made to smoothen inter departmental coordination. He said that focussed attention is being accorded on timely execution and completion of development works in the district.

Deputy Commissioner apprised that Lisser grid upgradation work will be completed by 30th November saying that this will allow the district to reduce unscheduled cuts to the minimum. He informed that the R&B department has achieved macadamisation targets in the district. Besides, 29 languishing projects out of 42 have been completed and the remaining projects are under execution.

Advisor was also informed that under MGNREGA 137% of the projected target has been achieved and all wage payments have been disbursed.

Later, Advisor took stock of progress on works under execution at GMC Anantnag. He was informed that most of the works have been completed while rest of the works are being done expeditiously.

Advisor also reviewed availability and operationalization of ventilators in the district. He was informed that allotted ventilators are functional.

Principal, GMC Anantnag, briefed about status of COVID vaccination in the district. He said that the district administration has augmented oxygen availability and 4 oxygen plants are functional in the district. The chair was also informed that oxygen supply, medicines and necessary infrastructure are available even in remote areas to tackle any eventuality.

Advisor Khan also reviewed arrangements for holding cooperative week in the district between 14th and 21st November.

The meeting was attended by officers from Health, R&B, PDD, PHE, Revenue, RDD and other allied departments

Earlier, Advisor Farooq Khan paid obeisance at the shrine of Baba Hard e Rishi (RA)in Old town Anantnag. He prayed for peace, progress, and prosperity of people of J&K.

Advisor also took stock of development activities being carried out in the shrine and assured of all possible support. He also met several local delegations at the shrine and gave a patient hearing to their demands. He assured of early redressal of all genuine grievances.
