Soon after the dead body of a tourist guide who saved five lives and sacrificed his life in the service of humanity was retrieved, Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai announced that the tourist guide will be awarded posthumously.

Hailing the brave act by the tourist guide Rouf Ahmad Dar, Ganai who heads the tourism department told news agency GNS that a monetary help will be given to the deceased’s family.

Meanwhile, the news agency quoted Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan saying that two lakh rupees as an immediate relief will be given to the deceased’s family.

Dar saved five tourists, two of them foreigners, after their boat capsized in fast flowing river Lidder near Mawoora area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday evening.

Unfortunately, Dar lost his life in an act of bravery which is being hailed by people and the administration.
