The Advocate General of the state, D C Raina, Wednesday submitted his resignation to the government to “tend to his family”.

Raina told KNS that he has submitted his resignation to the government at 4 pm and will formally reach the government tomorrow.

“As my wife is not keeping well, so I expressed my inability to continue further. I have submitted my resignation to the government,” he said.

“I express my gratitude to the people who I worked with during this time for their valuable assistance. And thank the government for the faith they put in me. I am leaving with satisfaction,” Raina said.

“I handed over the accommodation and left the office today. I will be leaving for Jammu tomorrow to join my family,” he added.

Raina had in April submitted his resignation to the government headed by Mehbooba Mufti keeping in view the high tradition of office and to facilitate it appoint a new incumbent to office.

The government, however, had requested Raina to continue till a decision on his resignation is taken by it. He was appointed as advocate general of the state during Governor’s rule.
