SRINAGAR

After four days of shutdown and curfew life in Srinagar, returned to normal on Sunday. Authorities had late Saturday decided to lift the curfew.

Life was badly hit on Wednesday last due to elections in the central Kashmir and later on the same day, a youth, Bashir Ahmad Bhat was killed in a firing incident at Nawa Kadal area of the old city.

The killing was followed by a day’s shutdown and three days of curfew in most parts of the city. There was a spontaneous shutdown in major parts of the city for two days.

Shops and business establishments today opened in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley, while transport services also resumed plying on all routes.

The markets in Srinagar witnessed a huge number of people busy in shopping even being Sunday.

Police sources said that no untoward incident incident was reported from anywhere in Srinagar and the situation was normal.
