Life returned to normal in Bandipora district of north Kashmir on Tuesday after five-day shutdown against killings of five militants in a  gunfight with government forces in Sumlar village.

Shops and business establishments remain opened across the district after five days. Both private and public transport plied normally.

A large number of people were seen busy in purchasing different items in the market. There was no major deployment of police and paramilitary troopers in the township.

Earlier, five militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Shokhbaba area of the district on Friday.
