To promote health facilities to the people of  remote frontier district of Kupwata, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah Tuesday inaugurated district hospital and Ayush Hospital here.

The District Hospital, despite little resources, continues to witness the ever increasing rush of patients. According to official records, on an average 20000 patients visit the OPD and 4000 are admitted in the 50 bedded health Centre every month. This hospital caters to a population of over three lakh of Kupwara town and its adjoining areas like Hayhama, Halmatpora, Kalaroos, Lolab, Kralpora, Chowkibal.

Besides patients are also referred from remote areas like Tangdhar, Teetwal, Keran, Jummagund, Kamkadi and Machil.

Talking to KNS Mir said that both equipment and building will be available at a district headquarter. “This facility would enhance the availability of health care in this Hospital and will provide better and modern treatment to the patients. Upgradation and improvement of health facilities particularly in rural areas has received added attention during the present government’s tenure and coming up of  District Hospital is a part of the gigantic infrastructure development programme started in the State by the Omar Abdullah led government,” he said.
