Indo-Pak frontier fireworks continue to haunt the fringe populace of Jammu and Kashmir as the two armies again resorted to firing and shelling on LoC on Monday morning in Saujiyan sector of district Poonch, leaving another four civilians injured.

The former NC MLA Poonch Ajaz Jan who visited Balakot and Sabzian area yesterday along with NC delegation to take stock of the situation said people are shifting from Saujiyan sector “for the fear of their lives” to safer places. “Four civilians got injured in fresh firing at Saujiyan this mroning, two of them have been referred to GMC Jammu in a critical condition,” Jan told Kashmir Life over phone from Mendhar. “Besides lives, some 15 houses have been damaged in the fresh firing.”

On Monday, Indo-Pak troops continued to trade heavy gunfire for eighth straight day, leaving six civilians dead and at least 21 others wounded. Pakistan’s army earlier said that two civilians had been killed and two others wounded in the fighting.

Despite a 2003 cease-fire, the two neighbours regularly trade fire, the latest coming as India celebrated Independence Day on Saturday.
