Reports said that thousands of people from the adjoining and far-off places reached the Machpuna village and participated in last rites of slain militant commander.

Emotional scenes were witnessed from the funeral site where scores of men and women were praising Firdous while his body was being carried towards the grave.

Pertinently, Firdous was killed along with his five associates in a gunfight with forces in Satkipora village of Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Friday.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across south Kashmir to mourn the militant killings.
