SRINAGAR

Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Monday said he will leave for 3-day visit to Jammu to meet the pandit community there and to assure his full support for their return.

Shah said his party is eagerly waiting for pandit return, but “no such step will be allowed or encouraged that is aimed at hindering or tarnishing the traditional harmony in the garb of the rehabilitation plan”.

He said communal elements have wicked plans, including that of dividing the state on communal lines, “which they want to implement in the garb of such rehabilitation plan of Kashmiri Pandits”.

Shah said: “If these folks (communal elements) exhibit stubbornness in this regard, we’ll be left with no option but to launch a string resistance against the same.”

Shah said pandits are the indigenous inhabitants of Kashmir and they’re not bound to any time frame or any permission from anyone.

“Whenever they wish, they’re welcome,” he said.
